Simarco International Ltd Plants 13,000 Trees in Derbyshire

Thursday 21^st November 2019 and it’s a cold morning in the heart of the picturesque Derbyshire countryside – the perfect day to plant some trees.

Simarco took part in the Carbon Capture tree planting day with JG Fenn, Premier Paper and the Woodland Trust in Derbyshire. Joined by TV’s Julia Bradbury and the Outdoor Guide, the tree planters met at the Woodland Trust’s Heanor site in Derbyshire and were greeted with fresh breakfast sandwiches, hot coffees and teas. After a series of brief introductions the intrepid eco-warriors took to the fields armed with spade, wellies and determination, despite the bitterly cold November air.

SIMARCO FOOTBALL SPONSORSHIP STRENGTHENS PRESENCE ON HOME GROUND

Simarco has reinforced its presence on home ground in Essex by agreeing a sponsorship deal with its local football team.

The initial two-year deal will see Simarco Worldwide’s logo feature on the shirts of Witham Town from the start of the new season next month.

It means that the club’s Spa Road ground – which is less than two miles from Simarco’s Head Office – will be renamed the Simarco Stadium.

It is the latest milestone for Simarco, which announced the opening of a new £10 million distribution centre in Stoke earlier this month.

SIMARCO TO CREATE 130 JOBS AT NEW £10 MILLION DISTRIBUTION CENTRE

One of the UK’s leading independent logistics firms is set to create 130 new jobs with the opening of a £10 million distribution centre in Staffordshire.

Simarco Worldwide has taken a 10-year lease on a 108,000 square foot depot in Stoke which the company has designated as its European logistics and distribution centre for the North of England, Manchester and the Midlands.

Co-founder and Chief Executive, Simon Reed, has described the initiative as “a natural response” to a continuing rise in freight volumes handled by the firm.  He added that the depot will complement Simarco’s eight other UK sites, making it even more capable of supporting operations right across Europe.

SIMARCO: COMMITTED TO A HEAD STRONG, HEALTHY AND CONNECTED WORKFORCE

One of the UK’s leading independent logistics firms has thrown its weight behind a campaign calling for greater resources to deal with the impact of mental ill health in the workplace.

Simarco Worldwide Logistics has signed up to the ‘Where’s Your Head At?’ manifesto which wants industry and politicians to ensure that those experiencing mental health problems are given the same support as those with physical difficulties.

SIMARCO EYES FURTHER GROWTH AS HEADQUARTERS LEASE EXTENDED

Simarco, one of the UK’s leading independent logistics firms has just announced its future growth plans after securing a 10-year extension of the lease on its headquarters.

Since moving to its current premises at Witham, in Essex, a decade ago, Simarco Worldwide has become one of the area’s largest independently-owned employers.

Co-founder and CEO, Simon Reed, has revealed that a rise in freight volumes and investment in services and facilities was expected to contribute to another double-digit increase in turnover this year.

BREXIT: CUSTOMS, CODES AND CONTINGENCIES

As I write, there are now only 11 weeks until the UK formally leaves the European Union.

Even so, despite more than 30 months have passed since the historic referendum withdrawal and successive, intense rounds of negotiations with the EU, we are no closer to establishing the firm and final shape which Brexit will take.

More to the point, we cannot know for the time being what impact it will have on ourselves and the many client companies which rely on Simarco to handle their exports and imports to and from Europe and the rest of the world.

Regular readers of this ‘blog will now be aware, we recognised the need to be as fully-informed about the potential implications almost as soon as the referendum outcome became clear.

BREXIT UPDATE: DEAL OR NO DEAL

With only 11 weeks remaining before the UK leave the EU on 29^th March 2019 (11pm), it is a little disappointing to have to write that we are still relatively unclear on the definitive shape of Brexit and with government currently in turmoil over current withdrawal proposals, there is uncertainty on whether we will leave the EU with a deal or not.

Following our previous newsletters on Brexit and to ensure we maintain service continuity when transporting goods by road to/from the EU, for many months Simarco has been in liaison with its European counterparts and HMRC to ensure we are as prepared as we can be for the eventuality of a no deal scenario.  We take pride in our service offering and despite the Brexit outcome, we feel it important to continue to provide the high level of service our clients are accustomed to.
