Today, we’re incredibly proud to shine a spotlight on two exceptional team members whose combined journeys with us span an incredible 65 years: Richard Jackson and Karen Mellor. Their stories are not just about longevity, they are about passion, commitment, adaptability, and the strong values that have helped shape the culture of Simarco.

Richard Jackson: 30 Years of Growth, Leadership, and Passion

Richard’s journey began in 1995, though technically it wasn’t with Simarco at the time, it was with IFB, which became part of Simarco through acquisition in 2014. Starting as an Export Clerk covering Germany, Spain, and Scandinavia, Richard steadily grew through the ranks, proving time and again that curiosity, dedication, and leadership go a long way.

Today, Richard oversees our European Operation in Stoke and plays a vital role in developing our European Partner network. On September 4th, 2025, he’ll mark an incredible 30 years with us.

So, what’s kept him going all this time?

“The job, and the people I work with,” Richard shares simply. He’s always enjoyed the dynamism of the logistics industry and thrives on the challenges each day brings. “I love leading a team and being part of a business that is always evolving. There’s always something new to learn, a new challenge to overcome.”

Over the years, Richard has played a pivotal role in expanding our services across Europe and building meaningful, lasting partnerships. He takes the most pride in seeing his team succeed: “Putting together a successful team and watching them grow in their careers has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.”

His advice to newcomers?

“Take an interest in all areas of the business, ask lots of questions, and give it 100% every day.”

And his journey in a quote?

“I have and continue to work with dedicated and fantastic people. The boy did okay 😊”

Karen Mellor: 35 Years of Loyalty, Leadership and Heart

Karen’s story is the kind you don’t hear often. What started as a temporary helping hand in the accounts department turned into a 35-year career filled with growth, change, and a genuine love for the people she works with.

Today, Karen is our Payroll Manager, overseeing the Group payroll while being an integral part of the HR Team. She’s also a proud member of our Mind Matters Group, helping champion mental health and wellbeing within the business.

Karen has worn many hats over the years, from managing the Stoke accounts and admin department to playing a key role in major office moves, including the heroic weekend relocation after a serious fire. Her ability to take on challenges with positivity and care has made her a cornerstone of the Simarco family.

Reflecting on her journey, Karen says, “Simarco have made my working life an absolute pleasure. Working for a good company that genuinely cares is worth a lot.”

She’s also been part of some truly memorable moments, including an unforgettable charity event in London with the Stoke management team.

Karen’s advice for those just starting out:

“Simarco is always growing and improving. If you work hard and grow with us, the opportunities will come.”
