SIMARCO SHORTLISTED FOR TWO PRESTIGIOUS INDUSTRY AWARDS

One of the UK’s leading independent logistics firms has capped another year of growth by being in the running for a brace of prestigious logistics industry awards.

Simarco Worldwide has been named as a finalist in two of the nine categories at the British International Freight Association (BIFA) Freight Awards.

 

It’s one of four companies shortlisted in the European Logistics Award and among five operators bidding to win the Staff Development Award.

Simarco co-founder and CEO, Simon Reed, described the recognition as “rich reward” for the effort invested by his colleagues over the course of the last 12 months.

“It’s wonderful news. We know that we’re making progress but it’s always heartening to hear others also think that we’re on the right track, whether they’re clients or those judging important industry awards like these.

“We’re keeping our fingers crossed, of course, that we pick up a trophy or two but merely making the final in both categories is something of a fillip in itself.” 

Mr Reed explained that the European Logistics nomination was based on the successful launch of launch of time-specific freight services for clients in key continental territories.

The company’s place as one of the Staff Development category finalists was founded on a campaign to develop a skilled, motivated and diverse workforce in the face of successive studies outlining the challenges of staff recruitment and retention facing the entire UK logistics industry.

Within the last year, Simarco has seen expansion in its sales, staffing and estate.

Having completed the double acquisition of two other leading freight firms – Formula Goss International (FGI) and Sutch and Searle – Simarco now numbers a 360-strong workforce across eight premises in the UK.
