Simarco International celebrates two decades of business
Simarco International, a UK independent freight firm, has completed 20 years in business and opened a new London office.
The company’s co-founder and CEO Simon Reed chose the anniversary to set out plans to double its current turnover within the space of only three years.
His comments come less than a month after revealing another expansion in operations with the acquisition of two of the UK’s other freight specialists. He is “confident” Simarco’s objectives are not to be thwarted by Brexit.
He said: “There is no doubt that there has been a great amount of uncertainty since last year’s referendum vote and that has understandably led to questions about what the future might hold for freight firms once the exit from the EU takes place.
“However, we have worked hard to build a network of clients, partners and depots which spans not only Europe but the world. Whilst it would be foolish to dismiss the fact that Brexit is certainly a challenge, Simarco will be more than able to cope with whatever might arise.”
Founded in 1997 with just two staff, Simarco has anticipated sales reaching £55m by the end of 2018 with recruitment bringing the number of staff on its payroll to 302.
He added that Simarco was putting plans in place to ensure that the excellence of staff was maintained: “We want to reinforce our reputation not only as a growing business but one which it’s possible to have a thoroughly rewarding career with.
“That’s why we have been looking to further our commitment to apprenticeships and the development of our employees. We are actively exploring the idea of establishing a Simarco academy in order to provide individuals interested in pursuing a future in the freight industry.”
