Training & Investment

Simarco are proud to have a professional and experienced team of over 340 staff members in the UK, who we believe are at the core of our business.

We are committed to the quality and growth of our Company, staff and the services that we provide. That’s why our dedicated team are continually supported by state-of-the-art technology, in-house training and investment programmes that ensure we stay at the cutting edge of our profession.

Our company policies and training programmes encourage professional excellence, whilst supporting a safe, diverse and harmonious working environment. We work for continuous improvement and development in the workplace, and ensure that each and every staff member has the opportunity to progress at Simarco, and within the freight and logistics industry.

We are whole-hearted and proud supporters of the National Apprenticeship Scheme and are affiliated with local education establishments enabling us to recruit, develop and mentor school and college leavers via our apprenticeship programme. As a Company, we recognise the long-term business benefits of investing in young people

We strongly believe in promoting from within, providing opportunities for younger generations and we invest heavily in the development, learning and progression of our colleagues throughout the business.

As applications for university enrolment is slowly falling, younger generations are looking for alternative routes into work.  For employers, the apprenticeship system is an incentive to overcome some of the financial concerns some employers may have on taking on a young person even more so with the introduction of the Apprentice Levy.

The Apprentice Levy was introduced in April 2017.   Over the past 4 years alone, Simarco has enrolled 56 new and existing employees into apprenticeships.

As diversity and variety within the workplace become important, our apprentices are spread across a wide array of departments throughout the business.

Apprenticeships at Simarco can range from Warehousing, Customer Service, Team Leader Support, Human Resources CIPD, IT Infrastructure Technician and the newest industry-standard apprenticeship – International Freight Forwarding Specialist L3.

The International Freight Forwarding Specialist L3 began its conception with BIFA, in conjunction with a group of employers, to develop an industry-standard apprenticeship in the logistics sector.  The IFFS was approved in 2018 and is an 18-month duration apprenticeship.  We are proud to advise our apprentices have excelled in this industry-standard qualification gaining distinctions.

At Simarco, we are committed to upskilling all our employees and are continuously looking to develop our staff professionally in all sectors, from the shop floor to the executive level.

Our newly formed Customs Teams are offered professional qualification opportunities with the Customs Academy. Our dedicated team of drivers continuously upskill and we have a new in-house programme of training for our van drivers taking them to Class 2 Drivers. Our managers are given management support with external training programmes.

We believe that training is not just important – it is vital. It improves competitiveness, staff morale, confidence and retention, customer satisfaction and profitability.  It is an investment in our future leaders.
